Dmitry’s Closet

August 6, 2009

Many of you know that a new book will be out very soon from my Memphis Collection, entitled Dmitry’s Closet.  This is one of several books based in Memphis that focuses on non-traditional interracial relationships between black women and white men.  (That was so formal, for those of you who speak the jargon, it’s another bw/wm love story straight from the Nelson notepadJ).

In order to delve into the world of Dmitry’s Closet, I’ve started this blog to introduce you to some parts of Russian culture, organized crime, American  (and more specifically Memphis) orphanages, Memphis clothing boutiques and a small “Best Life” guide for you to become more familiar with our main characters, Dmitry & Royal.

Also, on this blog and on my main web site, you can access the first chapter (unedited) of Dmitry’s Closet and leave your comments.

Be sure to watch in the upcoming months, as we present the book (TBA) formally to the world.  However, for you all, we always try to have a special treat.

ALSO:  Thanks for all of your support, the many emails and letters and even a few phone calls about Ivy’s Twisted Vine.  I’m happy to report in 2010; Ivy & Nicola will have a whole new adventure as they explore what being married to each other really means.

Check out the Synopsis of Dmitry’s Closet, and sign up for our quarterly e-newsletter.

Happiness and Harmony,

    miracles and blessing,

    number one book fan… shae’

    • Shae, you will be one of the first to receive notice of when the book comes out. I remember when you purchased Ivy’s Twisted Vine. I keep a list of as many readers as possible and you’re right up there on the top.

      • THE BOOK WAS GREAT…………………………..OK NOW IM WAITING FOR ANOTHER BOOK….WHATS NEXT GIRL….

  3. Okay, darlin. I see you have your thinking cap on again. What did you come up with this time? I’m proud of you little girl. You’re growing up to be a very successful woman.

    MTL

    • Shortening your name won’t give you much anonymity but thank you so much for your kind words. It means alot.

  4. Ciao Trivi! I agree with our friends. He looks a hell of a lot like Mark Whathisname with the blonde hair. Is this another autobiography?

    • You mean MTL:-) He posted right above you Alice. And yes, he looks like him in a way, but so does half a million other men in the world.

  5. Just what I need for the Christmas holidays. Thanks!

  6. Loved Ivy. Can hardly wait for their story to continue. I’m looking fo rward to your new book. Did u see Eastern Promises?

    • I did see Eastern Promises. It was sort of my inspiration behind Dmitry’s Closet, but just not as violent from beginning to end.

      Thanks for your support Tajohn.

  7. I finally read Ivy’s twisted vine and enjoyed it immensely, can’t wait for Dmitry closet.

  8. I love Ivy’s Twisted Vine, I have read it several times. That is how much I love it. I can’t wait for your new book to come out Dmitry’s Closet and I am on pins and needles about a sequel to Ivy and Nicola story.

    • Soon Gale. The story is a lot harder to write this time because it’s about durability. I know that is the stuff that loves stories are made of but to capture the relationship between husband and wife is tottally different than two people dating. So, I’m going to cross my little fingers on this one.

  9. Ms Nelson I am such a big fan of your work.

  10. Dear Latrivia,

I was so excited to see that you were coming out with a new work “Dmitry’s Closet”. I am waiting with bated breath for it to come out!!! I was one of the first people to purchase “Ivy’s Twisted Vine”. You were so kind to autograph my copy for me . That book had me so “caught up” that for three days when I wasn’t working – I was reading. I’ve lent my book to several of my sista girlfriends and they are totally turned on by you as well. I almost had to beat one down to get my book back LOL – but I understand why she didn’t want to give it up. Keep up the wonderful storytelling, I’ll keep buying on that you can depent. A loyal fan in Detroit.

  11. Can’t wait to see Dmitry’s Closet in print.

  12. Soon Tajohn. I’ll let you know as soon as they are available.

    Thanks for your support,

    Latrivia

  13. How do I purchase Dmitry’s Closet?

  14. I came across Dmitry’s Closet by accident. I didn’t know you had another book coming out. I got Ivy’s Twisted Vine probably before it reached the shelves. That book, by the way, continues to be one of my favorites. In fact, I enjoyed it so much I called Bookstar afterwards and asked them to supply the store with some copies(I’m a Memphian also). I didn’t check, but hopefully they did. Tomorrow I’m going to a store (I pray I find it) to purchase Dmitry’s Closet. I have Kindle, but if this book’s as half as good as Ivy, I want to hold it in my hand.

I would like to know the length of it. If you say it’s hundreds of pages, you’ll make this reader even more happy than you already have. Also, is there going to be a sequel to Ivy’s Twisted Vine? And if so, when can we expect it?

    • Hi Barbara,

Yes. Dmitry’s Closet is 362 pages. I wanted to provide those with Kindle the ability to “take it with you” if you will, however, I would recommend to anyone to purchase it and have a copy in your hands.

Dmitry’s Closet is not available in stores yet. However, it will be available very soon. For now, you can purchase directly through my site and my publishing company RiverHouse has worked a great deal with an Ingram Book Company to have the orders shipped globally with no problems. We are certain the book will be available online in over 250 different chains by March 1st.

On to Ivy’s Twisted Vine. Thanks so much for reading and supporting this book. I’m currently working on a sequel to Nicola and Ivy. However, I’m taking my time on this one to make sure that it’s an even better story line than ITV. I plan for it to be cheaper in price but better in content! The goal date if for it to come out in late 2010.

Purchasing through my site allows me to send you newsletters, updates and ask to engage in viral conversations via Web Vuer. So, please consider purchasing the hard copy!

Till then, thank you again for your kindness and support.

      Xoxo and all that jazz,

      Latrivia

  15. I was unable to find your book anywhere in town. I’d like to purchase my copy so that I can start reading it today. Looks like I’ll have to download to Kindle afterall. Please tell me how long it is. If it’s really thick, I’ll order a hard copy from you. Otherwise, I’ll just have to get it electronically. I’m at a standstill until I get your answer.

    • The book is 362 pages long, and I’d be happy to send you one in the mail.

      • OK, I’m sold. I can’t wait til March. I want my copy of Dmitry’s Closet, and I want it now. Yes, your writing is just that good. Just send me the purchasing information.

Btw, I don’t see how the sequel to ITV can be any better than its original, but I’m game. Take as much time writing as you need. And make it good and lengthy. I’m talkin’ novel plus here.

Oh, and thanks for responding so quickly.

      • I absolutely love your enthusiasm. You can go to http://www.latrivianelson.com and click buy at the top of the navigation.

ITV2 needs help. So, I may call on you if I can.

        Thanks so much,

        Latrivia

      • Sure, if I can.

  16. That “Sure, if I can” is me. I work in a library; so, I’m also going to try and see if I can get my director to order us a copy of ITV.

  17. Ms. Nelson:

I have been keeping abreast of release info and purchased Dmitry’s Closet as soon as it was available, however, I have not received the book. Is there a delay with delivery?

    Heather

    • Hi Heather,

We appreciate your business and your package was sent last week. I left you a voicemail on your phone and sent you an email. If you would like, you can always call me at 910-539-9393.

      Thanks,

      Latrivia

  18. Hi Latrivia,

I discovered your wonderful books quite by accident. I first found Dmitry’s Closet and was blown away with the story. I absolutely loved it. Then I looked for anything else that you had written and found Ivy’s Twisted Vine and simply could NOT put it down for two days! I just finished it. Wow! I’m really looking forward to the sequel later this year. Take your time, but hurry up! LOL! What a fabulous story-teller you are! I was so “in” the books!

Thank you for such an excellent reading experience with both of these great books, and I look forward to reading ALL your works!

    Janine

    • Janine,

Thank you for your kind words!!! I’m so glad to have you as a reader of my books. It means a lot to me to have each and every reader! I hope that you join us on the blogs where we discuss the issues and follow the storyline as it blossoms. It’s always a fun experience and a place to just share!!!

      Have a great Monday,

      Latrivia

  19. Hi,

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Dmitry’s Closet, which I just posted a review of on ivolvebeauty.com. I became a fan while reading your previous work, Ivy’s Twisted Vine over a year ago, and was surprised when I read that you had another book coming out. You truly are gifted and I cannot wait to read what you will write about next. Please keep up the fantastic work!

    Stay Blessed,

    Chasity

  20. I have read Dmitry’s Closet and I found it to be rather fascinating and emotionally charged
